John Adair wins District 39 Elementary Governor's Cup!

Team takes first in overall standings, first in Future Problem Solving. Individuals score high

Updated Special ColumbiaMagazine.com storyJohn Adair Intermediate School's Academic Team won the 2008 39th District competition.

John Adair was first in Future Problem Solving and third in Quick Recall.

Individuals winning firsts were Kaitlyn Grant, Anna Parson, and Amber Turner.


Individuals JAIS achievements included:
  • Kaitlyn Grant: First in Social Studies Assessment
  • Anna Parson: First, Language Arts Assessment; Second Arts and Humanities Asssessment
  • Amber Turner: First, Composition
  • Kyndal Caldwell: Second, Composition
  • Hannah Cockerham: Second Language Arts Assessment
  • Daniel Franklin: Second, Social Studies Assessment
  • Sarah McQuaide: Third, Science Assessment
  • Timothy Watson: Third, Composition. Third, Arts & Humanities Assessment
  • Coby Taylor: Fifth, Social Studies Assessment
  • Rebekah York: Fifth, Science Assessment
Final team standings as follows:
  1. John Adair Intermediate School, 52
  2. Edmonton Elementary School, 40.5
  3. North Metcalfe Elementary School, 16
  4. Summer Shade Elementary School, 15.5
The Hume Sportsmanship Award was won by Summer Shade Elementary School.

The Academic Team members are Austin Bradshaw, Kyndal Caldwell, Hannah Cockerham, Clark Dean, Daniel Franklin, LaDanna Froedge, Kaitlyn Grant, Abigail Kenyon, Sarah McQuaide, Morgan Miller, Hunter Mings, Tyler Moore, Anna Parson, Brooklyn Robertson, Harlee Smock, Coby Taylor, Amber Turner, Timothy Watson, and Rebekah York. Coaches are Jeanna Pike, Future Problem Solving; Betty Knifley and Mary Ann McQuaide Quick Recall and Written Assessments.

Students that earned individual medals and Future Problem Solving team members will now compete at Regional play on March 22, 2008.
