Obituary: Shirley Ann Grant, 69, former Columbia restauranteur

OBITUARIES

Mrs. Grant was a member of a large, highly respected family. She will be warmly remembered in Columbia as the very gracious hostess of the Dillon House restaurant here. Funerals will be held first in Columbia, with a second in Bowling Green, KY. Burial will be in Bowling Green.

Shirley Ann Grant, 69, a resident of Bowling Green, KY, formerly of Columbia and Russell Springs, KY, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2008, at 12:35pmCT at her home in Bowling Green, KY, after a long battle with cancer.



The funeral service will be at 10:00am at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home from 6:00pm until 9:00pm CT on Thursday, February 28, 2009.

A separate funeral will follow in Bowling Green, KY, at J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel at 3:00pmCT, Friday, February 29, 2009. Burial will follow in Bowling Green Memorial Gardens.
She was the daughter of the late Kenneth Bunch of Jamestown, KY.

Survivors include her mother, Viola Higginbotham Bunch, Jamestown, KY, and the following:
  • Her companion and special friend: Stan Davis, Bowling Green, KY

  • One son: Kerry Grant, (Kerrie) of California, MD

  • Two daughters: Suzanne Hobbs and her husband Calvin, Bowling Green, KY; and Sherry Arnold (Terry) of Columbia KY

  • Three brothers: Eugene Bunch and wife, Judy, Chicago, IL; Wayne Bunch and wife Brenda, Jamestown, KY; Mitchell Bunch and wife Deanna, Whitley City, KY

  • Three sisters: Shelby Smith and husband Holland, Russell Springs, KY; Sue Antle and husband Raymond, Russell Springs, KY; and Sandra Yates, Columbia, KY

  • Six grandchildren: Shauna Vaughn, Johnathon Vaughn, Jennielynn Bennett, Amanda Grant, Emilee Grant, and Logan Grant

  • Four great grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Aidan, Chelsie, and Evan
    And several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mrs. Grant was a Life Skills Home Provider for Life Skills of Bowling Green, KY, for 19 years. She will be very warmly remembered in Columbia as the gracious proprietor of the Dillon House, a very upscale restaurant on Greensburg Street in Columbia, which thrived for a time in the 1970s.

Expresssions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to Hospice of Southern Kentucky, 5872 Scottsville Road, Bowling Green, KY 42107.
