Defense lifts LWC basketball (Women) to 74-57 win over CU SPORTS: ColumbiaMagazine.com By Chris Wells, LWC Sports Information Director The Lindsey Wilson College womens basketball team dominated play on both ends of the court as the Blue Raiders beat visiting Campbellsville University 74-57 tonight at Biggers Sports Center at Lindsey Wilson College, Columbia, KY. The Blue Raiders limited Campbellsville to just 23.9 percent (16-of-67) shooting, including 6-for-32 from beyond the three-point line. On the offensive end, Lindsey Wilson (19-9, 7-1 in the Mid-South Conference) out-scored the Lady Tigers 42-6 in the paint en route to the win. Lindsey Wilson remains atop the MSC with the win and is one victory away from at least a share of the regular season title. Campbellsville falls to 17-11 on the season and 3-5 in the conference. In the opening half, Lindsey Wilson used a 21-5 run to a three-point lead into a 19-point bulge. After leading 16-13 with 10:53 left in the half, the Blue Raiders scored six straight to take a 22-13 lead. Campbellsville freshman Alexia Williams ended the Lindsey Wilson spurt with a three-pointer to cut the lead to 22-16 with 8:18 remaining. The Williams basket was the last for the Lady Tigers over the next eight minutes. During the final eight minutes, Campbellsville managed just five free throws while the No. 24-ranked Blue Raiders sprinted to a 41-21 lead. Campbellsville senior guard Priscila Alves banked in a three-pointer to end the Lady Tiger drought and the first half at 41-24.Lindsey Wilson extended its lead to as many as 23 points in the second half as the Lady Tigers never seriously threatened the Blue Raider lead. Lindsey Wilson senior guard Krystal Jackson scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Blue Raiders. Senior center Terran Duncan and freshman forward Viktoria Krell each added 11 points in the win. Campbellsville freshman forward led the Lady Tigers with 17 points. Click Here for game stats.
