LETTERS & FEEDBACK

Recalling Columbia as the Town of the Week

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

I was driving to Louisville on the previous weekend, and I had just started listening to Michael Feldman's show when they threw the dart and it landed on Columbia. I was thrilled. Given the show was not heard in the Columbia listening area it was just a fluke that I happened to hear it.

When I got back to Columbia I called the show and I called Duane Bonifer who sent the town material to the show. Now, as the show was not broadcast in the Columbia listening area so to hear the show the following week I made a repeat trip to Louisville on Saturday, getting to where I could hear the show just south of E-town.

When they called Kathy Jones to talk to her about her town she thought it was a prank call and would not talk to them. Her sister who lived in Louisville, heard her on the radio and called her to let her know that she really was on National Public Radio.

Thanks. Is this a new show? If it is a new show, we need to keep searching. There was a similar show on March 14, 1998 Whad'ya Know, and Michael Feldman did try to talk with Kathy Jones on that occasion. The March 14, 1998 story is at Whad'ya Know? and there is a link to the audio for that week. It's really a worthwhile memory. And, isn't it neat that this is almost the 10th anniversary of that show. If anyone finds a newer one, please let us know.
