Obituary: Alton Stotts, 78, dies in Louisville, KY

Mr. Stotts is from a large, respected Independent Ridge family. He made his home in later years at Milltown. He was a retired contractor and an avid coon hunter. He made friends everywhere he went

Alton Stotts, 78, 2826 Whitlock Street, Louisville, KY, died Thursday, February 21, at the Jewish Hopital in Louisville, KY.

The funeral service will be Saturday, February 23, 2008, at 12:00noonCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY with Bro. Robert Elder officiating.



He was the son of the late Jim and Della Hayes Stotts of the Milltown Community in Adair County. He grew up in the Independent Ridge section of Adair County, near Dirigo, but in later years was a resident of the Milltown Community.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nora B. Edwards Stotts, on February 11,2008, and by a son, Gerry Wright.

Survivors include the following:
  • One daughter: Mary Ann Stotts, Louisville, KY

  • A daughter in law: Ella Wright, Greensburg, KY

  • One son: Austin Stotts, Louisville, KY

  • Six grandchildren: Stephanie McKinney, Tiffany Stotts, Austin Jr. Stotts, Angie Escudero, William and Wade Wright

  • Ten great grandchildren.

  • Two nephews: Jim Stotts, Columbia, KY; and Larry Stotts, Louisville, KY

  • A close friend: Ruel Stotts, Columbia, KY

  • And several other relatives and friends.
He was a retired contractor, and an avid coon hunter.

He made friends everywhere he went, his close friend Ruel Stotts said. "He was like a brother to me," Ruel Stotts said. "We were just distant kin, but we ran around together all all lives. He was like a brother. Everybody liked him," Ruel Sotts said. "He knew everybody and everybody knew him. He was a good man. A good man. I'll miss him him a lot."

Burial will be in Columbia Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 2:00pmCT, Friday, February 22, 2008.
