LWC inducts Don Green, Bill Elder into Sport Hall of Fame

COLUMBIA, Ky. Two former Lindsey Wilson College greats were inducted into the LWC Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday night. Former men's basketball coach Don Green and former Athletics Director Bill Elder were inducted at a ceremony held at Roberta D. Cranmer Dining & Conference Center.

Elder was the first administrator to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, and Green was the 11th former men's basketball player or coach to enter the Hall of Fame.




Bill Elder served from 1999-2003 as the college's first full-time athletics director. During his tenure, Blue Raider teams won three NAIA national championships and nine Mid-South Conference titles. Elder also led LWC's transition from the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference into the Mid-South.

From 1962-70, Green compiled a 133-69 record while LWC's men's basketball coach. Green led the Blue Raiders to four Kentucky Junior College Conference regular-season championships and a pair of KJCC tournament titles. Green's LWC teams had three 20-game seasons and they appeared in two National Junior College Athletic Association National tournaments.

Green who also coached at Elizabethtown Community College and Chattanooga State Technical Community College finished his coaching career with more than 450 wins. Green also played two seasons at LWC: 1950-52. He was a 1951-52 all-conference selection.
