Closings: Snow in Taylor County puts CU on snow plan

Roads are slick, traveller Larry Smith, FM 92.7 news anchor said

South Central Kentuckians are awakening to a light to heavier snow cover this morning, Wednesday, February 13, 2008.

Campbellsville University: Joan McKinney, director of communications for Campbellsville University, called at 4:56amCT to announce that the university is on Snow Plan schedule. The first classes will be held two hours later than regular schedule, with shorter class times today until the schedule is caught up with 2:00pmET classes back on regular schedule, she said.

Adair County School District: There is no school in Adair County today. School was cancelled for Tuesday and Wednesday, February 12 and 13, 2008, because of illness. Classes are scheduled to be back in session on Thursday, February 14, 2008, according to Assistant Superintendent Brenda Mann.

Lenten Meal/Service cancelled: The Wednesday, February 13, 2008 community wide Lenten meal and service at the Columbia United Methodist church has been cancelled.

KY 55 North slick: Larry Smith, the WAVE 92.7 FM news anchor, said that his drive this morning from Campbellsville was very slow. "It took me over an hour to make the trip," he said. Normally, it is a 35 minute drive, he said in a telephone interview with ColumbiaMagazine.com this morning.

Open: Lindsey Wilson College has not reported any changes in schedule. The college still operates on the principle of former President John Begley, whose policy was, "When Houchens (now IGA) closes because of snow, we'll cancel classes because of snow."

Please report any changes in schedules for posting this morning on ColumbiaMagazine.com to (270) 250-2730.
