By Chris Wells, Lindsey Wilson Sports Information Director

A former men's basketball coach and an administrator will be inducted into the Lindsey Wilson College Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday, February 16, 2008.

The inductees are: Bill Elder of Montgomery, AL and Don Green of Lady Lake, FL.

"These inductees continue a tradition of excellence that was established with the founding of our Hall of Fame," said Lindsey Wilson Athletics Director Willis Pooler. "This is the highest honor a former Lindsey Wilson student-athlete, coach or administrator can receive, and we are please to welcome them into our Hall of Fame."

Elder is the first administrator to be inducted into the Hall of Fame and Green is the 11th former men's basketball player or coach to enter the Hall of Fame.

The pair will be inducted in a ceremony at Roberta D. Cranmer Dining & Conference Center at 6:15pmCT on Saturday, February 16, 2008.

Bill Elder
(1999-2003) was the first full-time athletics director in Lindsey Wilson College history.

During his tenure, Lindsey Wilson athletics won three National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) national championships and nine Mid-South Conference titles. Elder led Lindsey Wilson's transition from the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference into the Mid-South, one of the premiere conferences in the NAIA.

In 2001, Elder initiated the Lindsey Wilson Athletics Hall of Fame, which embodies excellence in collegiate athletics. Elder, along with Green, becomes the eighth class and the 21st and 22nd player, coach and administrator inducted into the hall of fame.

Elder is a member of the NAIA Basketball Coaches' Hall of Fame and the University of Montevallo Sports Hall of Fame. He was also recognized by the Mobile Sports Hall of Fame for his contributions to the city of Mobile, AL.

Don Green (1962-70) compiled a 133-69 record in his eight seasons as Lindsey Wilson's men's basketball coach.

He led the Blue Raiders to four Kentucky Junior College Conference regular season championships and a pair of KJCC Tournament titles. Green guided Lindsey Wilson to a pair of National Junior College Athletic Association National Tournaments and to three 20-win seasons. He recruited and coached 16 all-conference selections at Lindsey Wilson.

Following his Lindsey Wilson career, Green coached at Elizabethtown Community College and Chattanooga State Technical Community College, eventually leaving the coaching profession to become athletics director at Chattanooga State. He finished his coaching career with more than 450 wins.

In addition to coaching, Green played two seasons (1950-52) at Lindsey Wilson. He concluded his LWC playing career by being selected all-conference during the 1951-52 season.

The Hall of Fame ceremony, including the banquet dinner, is open to the public. For more information or to RSVP, contact the LWC Athletics Office at ahtletics@lindsey.edu or (270) 384-8071.
