Two die of gunshot wounds at 4959 Columbia Rd, Burkesville, KY POLICE REPORTS Janice Cole, Freddy Groce found dead. Tragedy is apparent homicide/suicide. Detectives Hunt, Wells, and Sullivan of KSP Post 15 continue investigation, assisted by Cumberland County lawmen. Special ColumbiaMagazine.com report Kentucky State Police at KSP Post 15, Columbia, KY, assisted in the early morning investigation of an apparent homicide/suicide in Cumberland County, KY at a residence between Burkesville and Columbia. At appoximately 3:50amCT, Saturday morning, January 26, 2008, the Kentucky State police here received a call from the Cumberland County Dispatch requesting assistance in the investigation of an apparent homicide-suicide at 4959 Columbia Road, Burkesville, KY, at the residence of 56 year old Janice Cole. Cole was found dead of a single gunshot wound to the back. Also located at the residence was the suspect, Freddy Groce, 54, who died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest. Both the victim and suspect were pronounced dead by the Cumberland County Coroner, Gary White. An autopsy is scheduled on each body at the State Medical Examiner's Office in Louisville, KY. The investigation is being conducted by Detective Kevin Hunt, Detective Tony Wells, Detective Sergeant Bobby Sullivan assigned to Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, and by the Burkesville Police Department, Cumberland County Sheriff's Department and the Cumberland County Coroner.
