Adair Deputies arrest man in sawed off shotgun incident Police Reports Car with four occupants stopped at Columbia restaurant after complaint received. Deputy Justin Claywell reports seeing passenger reach for sawed-off shotgun. He and Deputy Michael Burton drew weapon. Four occupants were ordered out of car at gunpoint onto parking lot on Jamestown Street ColumbiaMagazine.com special report COLUMBIA, KY January 26, 2008, 2:55amCT: A Campbellsville man, Kenneth Davis, 18, faces multiple charges after Adair County Deputy Sheriff Justin Claywell saw him reach for a sawed off shotgun as Claywell's partner, Deputy Sheriff Mike Burton, was talking to the driver of a car stopped following a complaint of erratic driving. The driver, Joseph Gore, 19, also of Campbellsville, KY, was arrested for driving with no operator's license. According to the Adair County Sheriff's Department, a call was received received about a car coming into Columbia on KY 55 north. The car was traveling at a high rate of speed, according to the tip, and was crossing the center lane. Adair County Deputies Sheriff Mike Burton and Justin Claywell responded to the call. Officer Burton caught sight of the car just inside the city limits and followed it, finally pulling the car over at McDonald's of Columbia on Jamestown ST. Officer Burton was talking to the driver of the car when Deputy Claywell saw the passenger in the back seat reach for a sawed off shot gun, according to the report. Deputy Burton and Deputy Claywell then drew their weapons and ordered the four people in the car out at gun point in the parking lot, and the two adults were arrested. The driver 19 year old Joseph Gore of Campbellsville was arrested for driving without a license. The passenger, Kenneth Davis, 18, of Campbellsville, KY was arrested and charged with the following:
The two other males in the car were juveniles and were released to their parents. The arrest was made by Deputy Mike Burton he was assisted by Deputy Sheriff Justin Claywell and Columbia Police Officers Sergeant Jason Cross and Officer Josh Brockman. Adair Co.
