ACHS Cheerleaders advance to KAPOS State Competition Photos accompany this story By Julie McQueary The Adair County High School cheerleaders competed Saturday, January 19, 2008, in the 5th Region KAPOS cheerleading competition at Central Hardin High School. Both squads will advance on to the KAPOS state competition February 16th at Western Kentucky University at Diddle Arena in Bowlling Green, KY. The ACHS Red squad received 1st place in the 20th district and 1st place in the 5th region in the traditional cheer & pom division. The squad roster includes Trista Willis, Peyton Antle, Megan Waddle, Beth Burton, Megan Burton. Lisa Smith, Emily Hadley, Chelsea Miller, Brooklyn White, and Sarah Grant. The ACHS Blue squad received 1st place in the 20th district and 1st place in the 5th region in the 2 1/2 minute super-large varsity division. Their roster includes Taylor Smith, Whitney Stearns, Korianne Cox, Courtney Carter, Casey Hadley, Jayce Stone, Rachel Burris, Lauren Bridgewater, Keri Legg, Molly Keen, Amy Irvin, Samantha Jessie, Paige Smith, Sarah Martin, Harley Lewis, Maisha Hatcher, Jessica Bardin, Jessica Denton, Alex Matney, Cherrish Lowe, Natalie Collins, Breanna Meeks, Taylor Hodges, Heather Brown, Emily Ramage The following girls made the KAPOS all-academic team. They have all maintained the required 3.0 or higher grade point average to be selected for the academic team: Emily Hadley, Megan Burton, Trista Willis, Sarah Grant, Cherrish Lowe, Jessica Bardin, Korianne Cox, Natalie Collins, Amy Irvin, Breanna Meeks, Heather Brown, Sarah Martin, Rachel Burris, Beth Burton, Peyton Antle, Molly Keen, Keri Legg, Lauren Bridgewater, Whitney Stearns, Taylor Smith, Samantha Jessie, Harley Lewis, Malisa Hatcher. Korianne Cox received the Libby Burr academic and leadership scholarship. Korianne was one of only three to receive this honor from the 5th region. The 5th region is proud to award scholarships each year to outstanding senior cheerleaders. Korianne also received the 5th region all-academic award for which she has had the honor of receiving all four years of her high school career. She also received a plaque for the KAPOS 5th region senior academic award for Adair County High School 2008. Korianne is a senior at Adair County High School and has been a member of the varsity cheerleading squad for five years. She is the daughter of Kathy and Jimmy Dale Cox.
