Whooping Cranes: Almost to destination in Florida LETTERS and FEEDBACK Dear Ed, Unfortunately, because of weather concerns and delays, the 2007 Whooping Cranes did not stop in Adel, Cook County, Georgia. Right now , they are "down" for the third day in Jasper, Hamilton Co. FL, hoping the weather will permit an "almost there" flight tomorrow! It has been a long hard flight for the Operation Migration Team! They have all stuck it out and are praying to have a break soon, and spend time w/ their families. I hope your readers will Google the Operation Migration site and learn more about the serious effort to save a species. Thanks for caring, Rubye Fielder We appreciate the update from Rubye Fielder in the state of Georgia. Her letter was received January 18, 2008, and a check at Operation Migration at the Field Journal shows the flock still grounded in Hamilton County, FL. -EW This story was posted on 2008-01-20 09:22:30
