Scenic Kentucky: Greensburg Train Depot by Larry Smith

2008-01-14 - Greensburg, KY - Photo By Larry Smith.
GREENSBURG's HISTORIC TRAIN DEPOT is a favorite landmark of Larry Smith, the news anchor at The WAVE, FM 92.7. "This is a drive-by shooting," Smith said. "I shot it through the windshield." But he recommends a better way to see it: Take a walking tour of Greensburg, which includes the Old Courthouse and the famous footbridge with connects gets one from downtown Greensburg to the depot. Walking tours are becoming a bigger part of tourist life in South Central Kentucky, and Greensburg has a great one. Columbia's has become a favorite topic for visitors to the Columbia Chamber of Commerce and the Columbia-Adair County Tourism Commission office. Vonnie Kolbenschlag is now revising the walk to include the Old Dr. Pepper bottling plant. Comments, edits, and additional information are welcome at ColumbiaMagazine.com (270) 250-2730. Or, call Larry Smith at appropriate times at the radio station, (270) 384-7979. Clicking Read More accesses the "Today, Mon. Jan. 14, 2008"

Competition in School Art is Tough

2008-01-14 - Downtown Columbia, KY - Photo By Ed Waggener.
COLUMBIAMAGAZINE.COM was able to get this exclusive intelligence on the competition for the Adair County School's logo contest. The contest appears to be drawing top artists and designers. Above, one of the county's best artist, W.M. Feese, consults with one of the county's most imaginative ideas person, Elaine Bennett, on a concept Feese is working on for the contest. The portrait on the wall does not look like Old Badrack, a well-known drawing by the artist. Clicking Read More accesses the "Today, Mon., Jan. 14, 2008," feature and more stand-out photos.

Lilly: Always ready for a drive to Columbia, KY

2008-01-14 - Fortune ST, Columbia, KY - Photo By Linda Waggener.
WHEN JANE TODD TOLD LILLY that she was leaving on a 86 mile trip out in the country, she said the little dog said, "Wait until I get my coat and I'm ready to go." Lilly loves to scratch, and the coat protects her. The little dog is every bit as smart as the one Jack Nicholson befriended, Verdell, in "As Good As It Gets." Lilly visited Columbia on Sunday. She lives in Shelbyville, KY.Clicking Read More accesses the "Today, Monday, Jan 14, 2008," feature.
