Community Education Classes open to Adair Countians Classes being offered include basket making, beginners astronomy, calligraphy, container gardening, e-Bay (the ins and outs of), floral arranging, internet safety, jewelry making, knitting, oil painting, settling your estate,treasurers in your attic, and welding By Ed Waggener Brenda Riley, Community Education Director for Metcalfe County Education, is inviting Adair Countians to register for a series of classes to be offered in February and May, 2008. "We have to have a minimum of 10 participants per class," Brenda Riley said, "so not all class are certain." Metcalfe is one of 102 counties were Community Education Classes are offered. The classes are not offered in Adair. "Of course Adair Countians are welcome," Riley said, "we get a lot of people from Green, Barren, and Monroes Counties." One of the favorite instructors was Anthony Ballou, Burkesville, KY, who is the son of Kenneth Ballou, an uncle of a whole gang of Ballous in Adair County, including two former high sheriffs. Anthony Ballou taught guitar. "It was a very popular class," Riley said. Each of the classes have a registration charge, which varies from class to class. Some are as low as $10, others no more than $40.00. To register, contact Brenda Riley, Community Education Director, 1007 West Stockton (toward Glasgow, on US68/KY80), Edmonton, KY.
