New gusher comes in on Danny and Debbie Burris farm Excitement over oil found near ground is great; but excitement is growing with the prospect of a one mile deep well in the Jones Chapel area of the Gradyville field By Ed Waggener A big well was drilled in by Don Yates of Yates & Yates Drilling Company, Columbia. in on the Danny and Debbie Burris farm yesterday, January 8, 2008. "It had a four inch stream of pure oil, no water," Joe Moore, Debbie's father said. "They're saying it could be a 300-barrel a day well," The farm is located along the Louie B. Nunn Parkway, four miles from the edge of Columbia on Willie Nell Road, a spur of Jones Chapel Road. The D&D Burris farm is the part of the Willie Nell Farm. The other part is owned by the Hamlett Bros., Barry & Ricky. The actual production numbers won't be known until the well is put on pump. If the well is as large as hoped, its production could be have an annual value of almost $11 million, pushing revenue a narrow strip of land straddling the Louie B Nunn Parkway, covering no more than one square mile to over $42 million a year, at today's sale prices. Activity in the Gradyville Field is very high. Ricky Hamlett of the Hamlett Bros., said that the first deep well, probing a depth of 5,000 feet, may soon be tried. There's been speculation that wells at that depth to 10,000 feet in the Gradyville field might rival the 50,000 barrel a day gushers found in Oklahama. This story was posted on 2008-01-08 06:39:00
