Columbia, KY VFW Post honors 9 members who died in 2007

On Thursday, December 6, 2007, Columbia VFW Post 6097 held their annual Christmas dinner. Members, family and friends totaling 67 attended.



Everyone attending enjoyed a delicious meal provided by Paula Miller. Thanks for another great meal, Paula!

Members of the posts funeral honor guard were recognized. Each honor guard member was presented a token of appreciation from the Ladies Auxiliary for the numerous hours they had spent this past year for services provided for funerals of veterans who had passed away this year.

The Ladies Auxiliary also introduced a new event at this dinner. An In Memory Of display was presented honoring VFW Post 6097 members who had passed away during the 2007 calendar year. The display included a photograph of each member provided by family members who also attended the dinner.

Members who had passed away during the 2007 calendar year are listed as follows, with their respective family members present:
  • Russell Arnold - John Arnold, Bradley Arnold
  • David W. Bennett
  • Wiley E. Chapman
  • Elza Johnson - Ruby Pike
  • Robert Keltner - Anita Keltner
  • John D. Lowe, III - Mary Beth & Richard Phelps, Elizabeth & Nathan Ballou
  • Danny N. McKinley - L.G. Peanut & Fay McKinley
  • Daniel L. Royse
  • Bobbie C. Willis - Nancy Willis and Jaime White
At the dinner Columbia Wal-Mart employee Glenna Rooks presented the post with a check in the amount of $1,000.00. Thanks to Manager Danny Bragg and Columbia Wal-Mart for this generous donation.
