Firemen report to fire at Northeastern Wood Products

The Adair County Fire Department responded at 8:39amCT on Thursday, January 3, 2008, to Northeastern Wood Products. 150 Hughes Road in Flatwoods community of Adair County.

There were 10 firemen on scene for an hour and fifteen minutes. the fire was contained to a saw dust dryer and the damage was to a smoke stack from this dryer.

Adair Co, Fire Department answers call to NE Products

Adair County Firemen answered a call at around 8:45am this morning, Thursday, January 3, 2008, to Northeastern Products, 149 Hughes Road, Columbia, KY just off KY 61 south near Santa Fe Church in the Flat Woods. Plant manager Bill Kruizenga, brown vest, second from left, watching above, said the smoke tower at the dryer apparently got too hot,causing the blaze. The plant processes wood products used in animal bedding, and employs 19 people.
