Firm grew out of Newspapers, Inc., which briefly ran the Adair County News A story in this morning's, Thursday, January 3, 2008, Courier-Journal announces the sale of Landmark Communications, which operates the Central Kentucky News Journal in Campbellsville, KY and the Casey County News in Liberty in the Greater Adair County area. The story does not mention whether these two papers by name, but indicated that all the company would be sold, possibly in smaller pieces. The Kentucky component of the company operates from Shelbyville, KY. It grew out of a late 1969 company, Newspapers, Inc., founded by Bill Matthews and others. The company had its greatest growth in Kentucky under the leadership of Larry Coffey, a one-time Adair County resident.
