Special ColumbiaMagazine.com story

The Adair County School District has been awarded a Teacher Initiated Program (TIP) Grant for a five-day residency. The residency began today, January 2, 2008. The remaining scheduled days of the residency are January 3rd, 4th, 7th, and 16th.

The Gifted/Talented Language Arts and Creativity students, grade levels 5-8, will be participating in this residency.

Richard Albin, a Kentucky Arts Council roster artist, is conducting a workshop entitled "Let's Create a Story" during this residency. Storytelling techniques are being used to teach creative writing.

The Kentucky Arts Council, a state agency in the Commerce Cabinet, has provided funding for this artist residency with state tax dollars and federal funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, which believes that a great nation deserves great art.
