Early morning accident briefly closes Green Hills Road

Vehicle flips, travels on roadway upside down before coming to rest in ditchline in that position; vehicle removed, road re-opened after few minutes

The Adair County Sheriff's Department shut down Green Hills Road for a short time because of a crash at 4:48amCT, this morning, Thursday, December 27, 2007, on Green Hills Road, currently a major artery because of the Road Eighty East bridge replacement underway.



William V. Matthews, 38, of Reynolds Road, Columbia, KY, lost control his Ford vehicle, ran off the roadway, and overcorrected, causing the vehicle to flip on to its top in the roadway, after which it traveled to the other side of the road before coming to a rest in a ditch line, still on its top.

Matthews was transported to Westlake Regional Hospital by the Adair County EMS for treatment.The vehicle was quickly removed and Green Hills Road was quickly reopened.

Sheriff Ralph Curry investigated the accident.
