Special ColumbiaMagazine.com story

Kyle Mann, the son of Gary and Brenda Mann of Columbia, KY, has been chosen as district winner of the Veterans of Foreign Wars District 8 Patriots Pen Essay Contest and will represent the VFW District 8 in State competition.

Kyle, along with 12 other 7th and 8th graders at Adair County Middle School, submitted essays at the local level last October. The top three essays, which belonged to Eddie Franklin, Kyle Mann, and Linnsey Rodgers, were submitted to the district level.

Kyle received 1st place and Eddie Franklin received 2nd place out of essays received from the nine counties of District 8.

Kyles essay will now move on to the state level of competition, which will include essays from all fourteen districts in the state. The winner at the state level will receive a trip to Washington, DC.

Congratulations goes out to Kyle and we wish him luck in the next level of competition.
