Skyline Theatre: The life of a projectionist

2007-12-17 - Summersville, KY - Photo From Larry Smith archive.
The DOUBLE LIFE OF LARRY SMITH. Today, Larry Smith is news anchor at WHVE Radio, 92.7 FM. Before his career in radio, and as he was launching his on-air vocation, he was in the movie business. He writes: "I was projectionist at the Skyline Drive-In before and during my radio career, Iwas responsible for running the movies, keeping the speakers repaired, and have popped thousandsof boxes of popcorn. I remember that when we had an all night movie I wouldpop at least 600 boxes of popcorn. The crowds were unbelivable. Living across the street from the Skyline was a lot of fun.The drive-in had a playground down next to the screen.and the kids from the Summersville community had the time of their lives, as didthe thousands of people who would travel for miles to just enjoy a movie at the historic Skyline Drive-In Theatre at 42782, Summersville, Green County, KY USA: proudly, my hometown."

Black Dog asks: Do you have a place for me in your family?

2007-12-17 - Bull Run Road, Columbia, KY - Photo By Barbara Armitage.
PUPPY FOUND A HOME IN LESS THAN TWO HOURS! ONE LOOK SAYS WHY
Barbara Armitage reported the good news at 11:51amCT, Monday, December 17, 2007

THIS PRECIOUS LITTLE PUPPY was found dodging cars in the middle of Fairgrounds Street in front of the VFW. Since no one has claimed him I can only assume he was a drop-off. He is about 3 1/2 to 4 months old and full of puppy energy. He loves to have his belly rubbed and is great to snuggle with. I dont think that he will get very big, the perfect house dog. Hes looking for a family that is willing to commit at least 15 years to loving and caring for him. They should be looking for a puppy that will bring joy, devotion and fun to their home. In exchange they must be willing to provide healthy food, medical care and a safe environment for him to grow in and lots of love. Hes very quick to learn and has already trained. He gets along wonderfully with everyone including cats. Please call Barbara at (270) 250-2979 if you would like to invite him to be a part of your family.

Scenic Adair County: Garlin in late fall

2007-12-17 - Garlin, KY - Photo By Ed Waggener.
LATE AFTERNOON SUN & LEAFLESS TREES make the community of Garlin, KY, a shining village on a hill. The H.W. & Ruby Roach residence can be seen most prominently in the foreground, with the Mouser farm between it and, on the left, the red roof of the architecturally distinctive Ron Hale residence. Higher in the center are the new Tommy Grider Garlin development, and, on the the right, the homes of heritage days of old Garlin.
