Footnote to history: Anne Braden had to cancel 2006 trip to LWC

About: "Lindsey Wilson College to celebrate Black History Month" posted February 2, 2006, 21 months ago, which annnounced that Ann Braden, the great Civil Rights leader from Louisville, KY, would speak at Lindsey Wilson College
To the editor, ColumbiaMagazine.com:

Unfortunately Anne Braden never made it to Lindsey. Her health had been failing and she very reluctantly had to cancel her visit to Lindsey. A friend of hers, actually, her biographer, called me to say that she just was not well enough to make the trip.

Just a few weeks after her scheduled visit I learned that Anne Braden had passed away after a brief hospitalization.

After I learned of her passing, I spoke to the young woman, a student at the college, who was to introduce her at the college and she told me with great enthusiasism that she had chanced to meet Anne at a social justice event in Louisville and she made the Lindsey connection to her.

s/Phil Hanna
