Trooper Burton trial continues in Liberty today The trial of Kentucky State Police Trooper Bramlett J. Burton, charged with reckless homicide in the death on June 4, 2007, of Columbia, KY, painting contractor Billy Phillips, continues into the third day at Liberty today. The charge grows out of an incident in the Adair County Regional Jail on Friday, June 1, 2007, while Phillips was in the custody of Trooper Burton. The case was moved to Liberty in a November 6, 2007 decision by Adair Circuit Judge James G. Weddle, who serves the Adair-Casey circuit and is presiding in the case. The prosecution is represented by Eddie Montgomery of Somerset; Steve Shoering of Louisville is representing Trooper Burton. Larry Smith, news anchor at the WAVE, FM 92.7, let us know that WHVE has veteran reporter Mike Wilson reporting on the hour from LIberty, KY, "During the trial," Smith said, "Mike calls is on the air every hour, on the hour." WAIN radio also has live coverage from the scene. There's a story and video on the Trooper B.J.
