New crossing over Butler Fork Branch on Jones Chapel Road is complete now. Garrison Construction Company has finished the $149,000, aluminum fabricated culvert, which is 45 feet long and 15'10" wide, company President Lewis Garrison said today. The new pavement is the same width as the old, but wider shoulders now have room for pick-ups and cars to pull off in case of emergency. PHOTO

Simon Finn Bridge on Kemp Road Closing:UPDATE: Lewis Garrison, President of Garrison Construction Company, the contractor for the new bridge, said yesterday, Friday, November 30, 2007, that the northside pier should be poured within a week and that the beams will be installed shortly after. He is now hoping for a faster completion than the first of 2008 as previously announced. Everything is a bit ahead of Schedule. In the meantime, The Simon-Finn Bridge will be closed until further notice.For additional information please contact Adair County Judge Meltons Office, (270) 384-4703.

Columbia Western Bypass: Greensburg Street closed

GREENSBURG STREET IS CLOSED for to excavate for the access to the Columbia Bypass and to complete the fill, the the overpass over Hudson Street. The overpass bridge beams can be seen in the left of the photo. In the center, beyond the trackhoe, can be seen the Columbia Baptist Church Christian Life Center. To the right of that is Downey Lumber Mill. In the lower part of the photo is the excavation work along Sherman Wayne Burton's Flintstone Wall parallel to Greensburg Street. LINDSEY WILSON STUDENTS THANK VERNON HODGE FOR SERVICE TO COLLEGE Lindsey Wilson College students, faculty and alumni join in prayer with Vernon Hodge, center, of Smithfield, KY. The group thanked Hodge for his service to Lindsey Wilson. Hodge was a member of the Lindsey Wilson Board of Trustees for more than 12 years. He met with LWC students, faculty and staff on Monday in the Sumner Campus Ministry Center. Hodge, who was responsible for the building of the Sumner Center, spoke positively about how Lindsey Wilson changes students' lives. "We are recipients of the blessing of what God has given to the Lindsey Wilson community," he said. "God is still looking for new lives to dramatically change through Lindsey Wilson."
