Adair County is next point on whooping crane migration route

According to the "Operation Migration" website, the annual ultra-light led whooping crane migration has reached Washington County, Kentucky, with the next point on the migration Migration Map being Adair County, Kentucky.

The flight from Washington County over Adair County and on will take around an hour and 20 minutes, according to information from recent logs at BringingBacktheCranes.com. From Adair County the birds fly to Cumberland County, TN, which takes under two hours, acccording to that site. Last year's migration ended with a great deal of sadness, when 17 juveniles perished after reaching Florida, according to BringingBacktheCranes.com.

The migration of whooping cranes from Nicedah National Wildlife Refuge in Wisconsin to wintering grounds at Chassawitzka National Wildlife Refuge in Florida, and has provided exciting times for bird watchers in Adair County. The total distance is over 1,200 miles.
