Obituary: Prof. Rodney K. Ivery, 94, beloved educator

He contributed to the educational advancement of many young people through the years
Many are saddened by the eternal homegoing of Professor Rodney K. Ivery, Campbellsville, KY, on Tuesday, November 13, 2007. He was 94.

Prof. Ivery, as many knew him, was a highly beloved educator. He was an early teacher and administrator at theCampbellsvilleDurhamHigh School, successful basketball coach, and taught in the integrated public schools several decades ago.



Visitation will be held at Fannie Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, 214 Durham Street, Campbellsville, KY, on Saturday, November 17 from 2:00-6:00pmET/1:00-5:00pmCT.

There will be visitation atHistoric Durham High School, now CampbellsvilleMiddle School,315 Roberts Road, Campbellsville, KY, on Sunday, November 18, 2007, from 12:00 noonET/11:00amCT to 2:00pmET/1:00pmCT.

The funeral service will begin at 2:00pmET/1:00pmCT at the Campbellsville Middle School.

He was well known acrossKentuckyand beyond and contributed to the educational advancement of many young men and women through the years.

The community basketball court, nearFannieChapelChurch, was renovated and upgraded and dedicated a couple of years ago in honor of Prof. Ivery.

He also received the annual African American Community Leadership Award fromCampbellsvilleUniversitya few years ago.

He received many other awards and recognitions for his many achievements and civic contributions.
