Obituary: Marie Pittman Burton, 76

Mrs. Burton was a member of a large Adair County family. She was a homemaker and of the Methodist faith

Marie Burton, 76, 1460 E. Hwy. 768 Glensfork, KY, passed away Monday, November 12, 2007 at Rosewood Health Care in Bowling Green, KY after an illness.

A graveside service will be Thursday, November 15, 2007, at 10:00amCT at Bearwallow Cemetery with Bro. Stanley Watson the officiating clergy. Interment will follow the service in Bearwallow Cemetery. Visitation after 8:30amCT, Thursday morning, November 15, 2007, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY.




She was born July 20, 1931, the daughter of the late Robert A. Sr. and Zora Alice Ballanger Pittman.

She was the widow of Odie (Bouncer) Burton, who preceded her in death on March 6, 1995.

She was also preceded in death by one son Roy Lee Burton in 1946; and her foster parents Everett and Stella Jones Smith.

She is survived by the following:
  • Three daughters: Ann Murphy, Glensfork, KY; Carolyn SueSatterfield of Carthage, TN; and Odean Marie Franklin, of Columbia, KY.

  • Special Grandson: Daniel Roy Gadberry & his wife, Betty
  • Also four granddaughters, two special great grandsons, Hunter and Kodie Gadberry; and nine Great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was of the Methodist faith and a homemaker.

Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
