Gas Price Drumbeat: Can't remember buying gas here To the editor, ColumbiaMagazine.com I am a resident of Adair County, but work in Russell Springs. I also spend a great deal of time traveling northward to Indiana. I couldn' tell you the last time that I purchased gasoline in Columbia. Why would I pay extra when I can get it much cheaper somewhere else? I bought gas for $2.87 Sunday evening 12 miles from my home! These local businesses need to realize that if we don't purchase gasoline here in Columbia then there is a big chance that we are also spending money for other items elsewhere. s/A concerned citizen (Name and contact information on file) Editor's note: It seems apparent that the local merchants and independent local gas retailers know that the differential charged in Columbia really hurts the local economy. We prefer to continue to buy locally rather than out of town, but can understand why so many feel otherwise. -EW This story was posted on 2007-11-07 11:13:57
