LWC will host 5th annual Veterans Appreciation Luncheon

By Duane BoniferThe Lindsey Wilson College community will hold its annual Veterans Appreciation Luncheon on Thursday, November 8, 2007.

The luncheon begins at 11:00amCT on November 8, in Roberta D. Cranmer Dining & Conference Center.

The luncheon is open to veterans and their spouses along with veterans' widows and widowers. There is no charge to veterans and their spouses.

This is the fifth consecutive year Lindsey Wilson has held sponsored the luncheon.

Sponsored by the Lindsey Wilson National Alumni Association, the purpose of the luncheon purpose "is to recognize and honor everyone in Adair County who has served our country, both during times of peace and war," Vice President for Student Services & Enrollment Management Dean Adams said.

"This luncheon began as part of the college's centennial celebration back in 2003, and it has become such a success that we have held it each fall," Adams said. "We intentionally do not hold the day on Veterans Day because we don't want to interfere with other community events. But it's important to have this day close to Veterans Day so that members of our campus community, especially our students, give thanks to those who have served their country."

In addition to the luncheon, the program will include remarks by a local veteran and Lindsey Wilson official. The luncheon is free to all veterans and a guest. Veterans should RSVP by calling Lindsey Wilson at info@lindsey.edu or (270) 384-8400.

The writer, Duane Bonifer, is Director of Public Affairs of Lindsey Wilson College, Columbia, KY
