Feedback: Thank you for your response, Mr. Hare Writer says whether runway is 4,000' or 5,000', it will be a great asset for growth To read article to which this comment addressed, Click Here To the editor, Columbia-Magazine.com: You are right in the fact that until something like this hits home it is really hard to understand why we on the Air Board are so insistent that we do things in a certain way. It is this insistence that has gotten us to this point that the state has seen our desire to affect change for the benefit of all Adair Countians, not just a few interested in a quick buck. Garver Engineers, the company we appointed to oversee these projects, has been given the approval by the state to run the numbers for the feasibility of a 5000' runway. This is in no way saying that this is what will be built. But that we are just trying to determine what would be the best overall, right now. Of course 5000' is desirable, but it must also be paid for. It is my belief that a new runway - of 4000 or 5000 feet, either one - would be a great asset to the growth of our economy. If you take a look at all of the surrounding counties that are continuing to grow they all have 5000' runways. If we as a community do not take advantage of this opportunity now it will have repercussions for years to come. John Ford Member and secretary-treasurer, Columbia-Adair County Airport Board This story was posted on 2007-10-25 13:51:11
