Obituary: Bro. Rufus Bunch, Jr, 76, minister

Bro. Bunch had been a minister in Adair and Russell Counties for over 50 years; he was the head of a large, respected South Adair County family
Bro. Rufus Bunch, Jr., 76 years, Summit Manor Health & Rehab, formerly of Glens Fork, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2007, at 4:20pmCT at Westlake Regional Hospital in Columbia, KY, after a long illness.

The funeral service will be Sunday, October 14, 2007, at 2:00pmCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Jimm Bunch and Bro. Steve Bunch officiating.



He was born August 17, 1931, the son of the late Rufus and Hazel Gifford Bunch of Adair County.He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Lawhorn Bunch of Glens Fork, KY, and by the following:
  • Five sons: Bro. Jimmy Bunch and wife Barbara, Glens Fork, KY; Bro Steve Bunch and wife Barbara, Russell Springs, KY; David Bunch, Clayton, NC; Doyle Bunch and wife Darlene and Doug Bunch and wife Delena, all of Campbellsville, KY

  • One daughter: Rhonda Hardee and husband Glen of New Hill, NC

  • One brother: Donnie Bunch of Glens Fork, KY

  • Four sisters: Frances Kelly, Bobbie Hadley, and Betty Grant, all of Columbia,KY; and Helen Meece of Somerset, KY

  • And nine grandchildren, two step grandchildren, and six great grandchildren
Bro. Bunch was preceded in death by two sons, J. Harold Bunch and Larry Wayne Bunch, and by an infant sister and by two brothers, Paul Bunch and Buddy Bunch.

Bro. Bunch was a farmer and a minister for over 50 years in Adair and Russell County, KY.

Interment will be in the Hadley Cemetery in Fairplay, KY.

The family requests visitation after 3:00pmCT on Saturday, October 13, 2007, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY.

Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
