She will be traveling all over the Commonwealth to speak to students about the laws prohibiting the sale of tobacco products to minors and the penalties for breaking the law. Postels mother, Lynne, won the Miss Maryland pageant in 1982. Her aunt, Marcia Malone Bell, was Miss Kentucky in 1978 and finished among the top 10 in the Miss America Pageant. The Miss Kentucky pageant was the first statewide contest in which Postel had competed. Her singing talent also helped her earn the title of Miss Monticello in December. Postel is in her junior year at the University of Kentucky this fall. Although Postel was born in Miami and graduated from high school in Columbus, Ohio, she considers herself a Kentuckian after spending seven years of her life, from age 3-10, in Somerset, KY. Kentucky is my home Ive lived here longer than anywhere else, she said. Five days after my graduation, my family and I were ready to get out of there (Ohio), and we moved back to Kentucky.
