Lindsey Wilson College senior midfielder Ryan Stewart scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner in overtime, to beat visiting Mid-Continent (KY) University 2-1 last night at Lindsey Wilson Park.

Stewart scored with 3:23 left in the first overtime from six yards out to help the No. 4-ranked Blue Raiders improve to 11-1-0 on the season.

Senior midfielder Adam Howard served the ball into the penalty area from the right flank. The ball skipped through the penalty area through a pair of defenders onto Stewart's boot.

Stewart calmly gathered the touch and beat Mid-Continent freshman goalkeeper Nicola Samac for his second game-winner of the season.

Mid-Continent junior midfielder Charles Achia scored the game's first goal in the 17th minute on a blast from 25 yards out.

The No. 25-ranked Cougars (6-4-2) controlled much of the first 45 minutes, out-shooting the Blue Raiders 5-2 in the first half.

After the break, the Blue Raiders wasted little time scoring the equalizer as Stewart headed in his ninth goal of the season in the 47th minute. Junior midfielder Turlien Romulus served the ball from the right side deep penalty area onto the head of Stewart for his sixth assist of the season.

The Cougars played the majority of the second half and all of the overtime a man down after sophomore defender Jamie Bowman was sent off after his second yellow.

Despite the man advantage, Lindsey Wilson managed just a 6-4 shots advantage in the second half. The Blue Raiders did hold a 2-1 shots advantage in the overtime, with the final shot the game-winner.

Lindsey Wilson freshman goalkeeper Pedro Caetano earned his first career win after relieving junior starter Glen Fox after the first half. Caetano did not allow a goal while recording three saves. Samac allowed both goals while stopping five Lindsey Wilson shots.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 3:00pmCT on Monday, October 8, 2007 as the Blue Raiders travel to University of the Cumberlands (KY) in Williamsburg.
