LWC men, women soccer teams win over Georgetown Raider teams sweep matches against Georgetown women, men; LWC teams in1st place in MSC Three photos, NAIA, MSC, LWC links below By Duane Bonifer Special ColumbiaMagazine.com story The Lindsey Wilson College womens soccer team won a battle of first-place Mid-South Conference soccer teams on Monday night, October 1, 2007, at Lindsey Wilson Park in Columbia, KY. The Blue Raiders ranked No. 3 in the NAIA defeated visiting Georgetown (KY) College 4-1. The LWC men also beat Georgetown to remain perfect in conference play. In the womens match, LWC opened with a 2-0 lead before Georgetown cut it in half at the 65:42 mark. With less than 13 minutes left in the match, the Blue Raiders scored twice over an 83-second span to put the game out of reach. With the win, LWC now leads University of the Cumberlands (KY) by a half-game in the MSC standings. The Blue Raiders overall record improved to 8-1-2. The Georgetown falls to 7-4 overall and 2-1 in the MSC. The Tigers are 1-19-1 all-time against the Lindsey Wilson women. In the nightcap, the LWC men jumped out to a 4-0 lead over the Georgetown men and cruised to a 5-1 win. The Blue Raider men ranked No. 5 in the NAIA improved to 10-1-0 overall and 3-0 in the MSC Georgetown falls to 3-8-0 overall and 1-3 in the conference. The Tigers are 0-24 all-time against the Blue Raiders. The womens next home match is at 5:00pmCT on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 against West Virginia Tech. The mens next home match is 7:00pmCT on Thursday, October 4, 2007 against Mid-Continent (KY) University.
