Tourist from Israel met the nicest people in Columbia

To Columbia Magazine.com

Hi !

We were passing through Columbia on 17th May on our second US trip and stopped off at the Dreamland motel for the night.

In the morning the manageress recommended Betty's O.K. Restaurant for breakfast (What's the exact address by the way?), and while we were there we met Diane Hanks, the Minister's wife, and Glenda a friend.

We had a lovely time with them and we promised to keep in touch. I gave her my card but so far have not heard from her.

Here is a photo I took as we were leaving; perhaps you might care to bring it to her attention, give her our regards and tell her she can read my journal of our entire trip starting at: Click Here

Have a nice day,

Thanks for your letter, Mr. Rose, and will give your address to the group. First, the address of Betty Ollestadt's famous OK Country Cooking restaurant is 2339 Campbellsville Road, Columbia, KY. It's a big attraction for Columbia, drawing customers from several counties and beyond. Through the good offices of Elaine Bennett, manager of the Dream Depot, we've also been able to track down the people in the photograph. Diane is Diane Lemmon, a local minister's wife and a minister herself, in addition to being one of America's best actresses. She is a regular performer at the Dream Depot in Columbia. You'll have to arrange your next visit when she's on stage. To CM readers: There are some great photos and a nice narrative about Columbia in the Selwyn Rose's American Odyssey The Columbia segment is in part three of the log.

This group left a wonderful impression on Selwyn Rose, an Israeli visitor to Columbia, KY, who was here in May. Above, from left, Ruth Moore, the irrepressible actress Diane Lemmon, Bobby Moore (who has since passed away), Glenda Butler, and at the next table, Grace Burriss. They're having dinner at Columbia's wonderful OK Country Cooking restaurant, owned and operated by Betty Ollestadt.
