Battle of Mill Spring re-enactment Sept. 28-30, 2007, at Nancy

This weekend September 28 - 30th will be the 145th Anniversary of the Battle of Mill Springs.

Below is a schedule of events:



Friday- September 28th- School Tours All Day (Tours are booked for this day).



Saturday - September 29, 2007:
  • 9:30amET: Battlefield Concerts by the 52nd Tennessee String Band and the Orphan Brigade Band
  • 10:00am to 11amET: Battle Reenactment - The Fight for Dutton's Hill Artillery and Cavalry
  • 11:30amET - Concert by the Orphan Brigade Band
  • Noon to 1:00pmET - Civil War Play
  • 1:30pmET - Battlefield Concerts by the 52nd Tennessee String Band and the Orphan Brigade Band
  • 2:00pm to 4:00pmET: Battle Reenactment - The fight for the Corn Field
  • United States Army (2nd Minnesota, 10th Indiana, 4th Kentucky) vs Confederate States Army (15th Mississippi, 20th Tennessee, #28th Tennessee)
  • 4:00pmET - Concert by the Orphan Brigade Band
  • 7:00pm to 10:00pmET: Candle light tour of the Battlefield
  • Tours begin at Activity Tent, an additional $3 per person fee
  • 8:00pm to 10:00pmET: Civil War Era Dance - music by Orphan Brigade Band
  • 9:00pmET - Artillery Salute

Sunday, September 30, 2007
  • Sunrise (approx. 7:30amET): Tactical Battle- The Fight in the Fog
  • 10:00am to 12:30pmET: Civil War Era Church Services, Civil War Play, Civil War Era Fashion Show (Military/Civilian) and Civil War Military Medicine Demo
  • 1:30pmET- Battlefield Concerts by the 52nd Tennessee String Band and the ORphan Brigade Band
  • 2:00pm to 3:00pmET: Battle Reenactment - The Fight for the Split Rail Fence- 19th Tennessee Infantry, CSA vs 10th Indiana and 9th Ohio Infantry, Regiments, USA.
  • 3:00pmET: #Farewell Battlefield Concerts by the 52nd Tennessee String Band and the Orpah Brigade Band.

The original battle was on January 19, 1862 when 4,000 troops under George H. Thomas clashed with 4,000 Confederate troops under Generals George B. Crittenden and Felix K. Zollicoffer #near Logan's Crossroads, now Nancy, KY.

General Zollicoffer was killed at the battle of Mill Springs, becoming the first Confederate General #to be killed in the West.
