LWC Golf Women win invitational; Burton wins in 3rd playoff hole

Order of finish for top three this afternoon at Pinewood Country Club is Lindsey Wilson College, Bethel College, Campbellsville University

The Lindsey Wilson College women's golf team won their second tournament of the fall season today at the Lindsey Wilson Fall Invitational played at Pinewood Country Club.

The Blue Raiders shot a two-day total of 605 (298-307) over the par-72, 5,958-yard Pinewood course.

Bethel (IN) College finished second with a team-total of 616 (318-298) and Campbellsville (KY) University finished third with a total of 659 (326-333).

Lindsey Wilson sophomore Krista Burton won her first tournament of the year beating Bethel (IN) College's Shanna Page on the third playoff hole. Burton (69-75) and Page (74-70) were tied an even-par 144 for the tournament after 36 holes of play.



Lindsey Wilson senior Jessica Robertson finished in third place with a 148 (71-77) and senior Beth Copper ended in sixth with a 154 (77-77). Freshman Chelsey Key finished with a two-day total 158 (76-82).

The trio joined Burton, Page, Bethel's Kara Ballenger (152) and Georgetown (KY) College's Jessica Collins (149) on the all-tournament team.

Lindsey Wilson sophomore Cheslee Elkins finished sixth with a two-day total of 159 (81-78) and junior Aline Decker ended tied for 22nd with a total of 173 (85-88).

Playing the tournament as individuals, freshman Christina Sinclair finished in 33rd with a 218 (111-107) and sophomore Shaina Bowen finished 35th with a 239 (130-109).

Lindsey Wilson returns to action on October 8-9 as the Blue Raiders travel to the Trevecca Nazarene (TN) University Invitational in Nashville, TN.The writer, Chris Wells, is Sports Information Director at Lindsey Wilson College
