Dates of lives of Clemens children anachronistic to story About: "Fascinating stories on Gilmer Cemetery, now at Union" To the editor Here are the dates of Samuel Clemens' brothers and sisters - who did not live in Adair County: Orion 1825-1898; Pamela, 1827-1902; Pleasants-Hannibal, 3 months; Margaret 1830-1839; Benjamin 1832-1842; (Sam - 1835-1910); Henry 1837-1858. If a Clemens child was killed it was not one of Samuel Clemens' siblings. Sam's father, John Marshall Clemens was the eldest of five (Clemens) children. He was born in 1799. He was age 7 when his father died - meaning the remaining children were born soon after him and would not have been children during the Civil War when there were Union soldiers.s/Just put me down as a faithful reader, OK? Contact information on file PS: I liked the Union Cemetery story. This story was posted on 2007-09-18 16:11:11
