Hart gets new health building; old one will house extension, 4-H $100,000 in funding will pay for addition and renovation to health department building Commonwealth News Center storyGovernor Ernie Fletcher today awarded $100,000 in funding to the Hart County Fiscal Court to renovate the former Hart County Health Department building. The renovated facility will house the Hart County Extension and 4-H Offices. The presentation came on the same day Governor Fletcher helped break ground on the site of the new Hart County Health Department. This is a great day for Hart County. Not only will there be a new health department building, but the old building already has a new tenant and will be getting a facelift in preparation for the move, said Governor Fletcher. These projects will greatly improve the quality of life for citizens in Hart County, and will ensure basic services in accessible locations. The renovation to the future Extension Office Building will include construction of a 1,200 square foot meeting room, adding a kitchen, bathrooms and renovations to the building to accommodate County Extension Agents and 4-H groups. The lease of the building the County Extension Agents currently use is not being renewed. Funding for the project is from the Governors Office for Local Development. The decision to renovate the former health department building is wise, and will provide upgraded services from both the health department and the extension agents, said Sen. Carroll Gibson (R-Leitchfield). Were very excited for this type of work to be done in Hart County. This project achieves the goal of improving services for our citizens and enhancing the 4-H and county extension programs in our community said Rep. Dottie Sims (D-Horse Cave).
