5 BAVFD Firemen assist Burkesville FD battling barn fire Blaze Saturday afternoon in woodland, barn. By Brandon Harvey Five B.A.V.F.D. firemen responded to Peg Garmen Road in Cumberland County to assist the Burkesville Fire Department in combating a large barn and woodland fire. Peg Garmen Road is located off the old Kentucky 61 South, 4 miles from the Adair/Cumberland County Line. The call came in Saturday, September 8, 2007 at 3:27pm. Firemen were on the scene for an hour and fifteen minutes. Other firemen stood by at the station for a call. The five firemen that responded were Brandon Harvey, Brian Fudge, Terry Harvey, Jerry Elliott, and Ed Wigal. A reminder: Emergency Drought Measures: Burning Ban, and 15% water use reduction order in effect. With the extremely dry conditions and winds, fire hazards are much greater than Adair County has seen in a long, long time. (PSA)Breeding Area VFD now collecting 2007-2008 membership duesThe Breeding Area Volunteer Fire Department is now collecting membership dues for 2007-2008 year, July 1, 2007 and goes to June 30, 2008. Membership dues can be mailed to the Breeding Area Volunteer Fire Department at Post Office Box 5, Breeding, KY 42715. Membership dues can also be paid to any BAVFD firefighter. Dues are $25.00 for first deed and $15.00 per additional deed. Non- Membership runs are $500.00. The Breeding Area Volunteer Fire Department provides fire suppression to the South-Western part of Adair County. The district starts at the Highland Raku Studio on High Way South 61 and proceeds to the Cumberland County line, covering both sides of the road. BAVFD protects Antioch Church Road, F Burris Road, Weed Sparksville Road, H Richards Road Greenbrier Road and East Big Creek Road. BAVFD protects High Way West 80 from the Louie B. Nunn Parkway Bridge to the Metcalfe County Line. BAVFD protects Flat Rock Road and all adjoining roads to the Metcalfe County Line.
