2007 ACHS Band: Grand Champions, 1st competition! Adair County has great day in Russell County High School; host Mighty Laker Band directed by TIm Allen protege and former Adair County band member Andy Critz. Related band site links follow. Doyle Lloyd photographs accompany this article Adair County High School Band once again lived up to its winning tradition, returning to Columbia last night with the Grand Championship from Lake Cumberland Marching Band Invitational at Russell County High School. It was Adair County's first competition of the 2007 season, though fans had gotten a glimpse of their promise at the 2007 Mark Twain Pre-Season Exhibition at Adair County High School two weeks ago, on August 26, 2007. The Kentucky Music Educators Association (KMEA)-sanctioned victory came over bands from Barren County, Glasgow, Marion County, Madison Southern, Warren Central. To make the day more exciting for Adair County, the festival was see one of their own succeeding in a career in music. Host Russell County High performed but did not compete. Adair Countian Andy Critz is in his first year as director of the Mighty Laker Band at RCHS. Critz credits ACHS' legendary director Tim Allen with being the most inspirational role model for his career. Adair County's next event will be September 15, 2007, at Eastern High School in Louisville, KY. This event is also KMEA sanctioned. Then on September 29, 2007, the band travels to Danville to appear in the Boyle County High Home Contest.
