By Chris Wells, Director Lindsey Wilson Sports

A pair of Blue Raiders scored two goals each to lift the Lindsey Wilson College mens soccer team to a 5-3 win over visiting Lindenwood (MO) University in the final night of the KELME Classic at Lindsey Wilson Park, Saturday, September 8, 2007.

Lindsey Wilson senior Tiyiselani Shipalane scored two goals -- one of which was the game-winner -- in a span 2:03 and junior Nathaniel Jafta scored two first half goals to help the No. 7-ranked Blue Raiders improve to 5-0 on the season.

No. 19-ranked Lindenwood scored 3:41 into the match as senior Nenad Todorovic scored from just outside the penalty area under the outstretch hands of Lindsey Wilson junior goalkeeper Glen Fox.

The Lion (2-2-1) lead was short-lived as Lindsey Wilson senior Ryan Stewart scored on a penalty kick at the 7:34 mark to tie the game at 1-1.

Jafta scored the matchs next two goals at the 13:15 and 25:38 marks to give the Blue Raiders the 3-1 lead.

Just before the half, Lindsey Wilson sophomore Carnell Learmond was sent from the pitch with his second yellow card of the match. The Blue Raiders played the remainder of the match with a one-man disadvantage.

Lindenwood freshman Hannes Backstrom scored at the 61:37 mark to cut the Lindsey Wilson lead to 3-2.

But Shipalane ended the suspense with goals at the 67:17 and 69:20 marks to give Lindsey Wilson a 5-2 lead. Jafta assisted on the first Shipalane goal to give the Capetown, South Africa, native five points (2 goals, 1 assist) on the night.

Todorovic scored at the 82:41 mark to set the 5-3 final score.

The Blue Raiders out-shot the Lions 20-13, including 14-7 in shots on-goal.

Fox earns his fifth win of the season while allowing a season-high three goals and collecting four saves. Lindenwood goalkeeper Bryce Flynn allowed five goals while stopping nine Lindsey Wilson shots.

The Blue Raiders return to action at 2:00pm CT on Saturday, September 15, as Lindsey Wilson hosts Azusa Pacific (CA) University at Lindsey Wilson Park.
