Columbia Utilities wins No. 1 Award for Outstanding Service!

Time to bottle it and sell it? From 10 finalists, Columbia Utilities Commission picked as Number 1 drinking water utility in the State by KY Rural Water Association

On August 27 29, 2007, representatives of Kentucky's public drinking water and wastewater utilities gathered for the Kentucky Rural Water Association's (KRWA) 28th Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition held in Louisville, Kentucky.Over 750 utility professionals gathered at the Galt House Hotel and Suites, to join KRWA in celebrating 28 years of "helping water and wastewater utilities help themselves" and to hear presentations from industry experts, network with peers, and tour Kentucky's largest exhibition of products and services available to public utilities.

The 2007 Wooden Bucket award was presented at the meeting to Columbia Utilities Commission. Accepting the award by KRWA President David Peterson, to Columbia Utilities GM Jim Williams; CUC Water Superintendent Dana Rogers; Columbia Water Plant Operator Larry Rooks; and Columbia Gas Superintendent Joe Hare.



On Wednesday, August 29, 2007, ten drinking water and wastewater utilities were recognized and honored at the KRWA Awards Luncheon for their outstanding service during the past year. This year's honorees were: Edmonson County Water District; Columbia Utilities Commission; Hardin County Water District #1; Henry County Water District #2; Laurel County Water District #2; Lawrenceburg Water & Sewer; McCreary County Water District; Prestonsburg City Utilities; South Hopkins Water District; and Wood Creek Water District.

From the ten utilities honored, one is selected annually as the "Wooden Bucket" award recipient. This award is presented to a drinking water and/or wastewater utility that has made substantial and lasting improvements in providing high levels of customer service and high quality drinking water and wastewater services in its community.

The Kentucky Rural Water Association is a state-wide non-profit association that provides training, on-site technical assistance, advocacy, and other programs to over 375 member public drinking water and wastewater utilities in Kentucky. With offices in Bowling Green and Frankfort, KRWA has been assisting water and wastewater utilities since 1979.
