Wildfire takes 4 acres near Glensfork before ACFD snuffs it

Special Reminders: EMERGENCY DROUGHT MEASURES. : Burning Ban, 15% water use reduction order in effect 1) Ann issues executive order banning open burning and 2) Columbia, ACWD Managers ask 15% water use reduction End Special Reminders

The Adair County fire department battled the second wildfire in two days which were a result of open burning, despite a county-wide ban on the fires in the county ordered by County Judge Executive Ann Melton.

This time, four acres were burned on Old Glensfork Road in a fire caused from a burning brush pile that got out of control. Twelve ACFD members responded at 11:40am, and were on the scene for approximately 45 minutes. They were assisted by the Division of Forestry.

Adair County Fire Chief Terry Flatt stresses that the No Burn Ban remains in effect. "Conditions are extremely dry. No burning is allowed until this ban is lifted," he said.
