The reunion of Coax Me Chad and Wally Burress

An recent Byron Crawford is a beautiful story about the reunion of Coax Me Chad, and Adair County's Wally Burress, 23 years after Coax Me Chad ran second to Swale in the Kentucky Derby.

The horse is now living on KY 61 North, on the his uncle, Larry Downey's farm, near the Bill Newt Curve at Milltown.

Wally Burress hasn't fully researched it yet, but he thinks Coax Me Chad may one of the the oldest living Derby Horse to have run first or second in the Kentucky Derby. He said that Genuine Risk, the filly who won the 1980 Derby, is still alive, which means Coax Me Chad may still be the second oldest. If so, that would be quite a claim for Adair County's Horse Industry.

Grand day at races fuels search, reunion for '84 Derby team by Byron Crawford, appeared in the Wednesday, July 25, 2007, Courier-Journal. The article includes a beautiful photograph by Laura Burress, of Coax Me Chad and Wally Burress,
