Ann would make agreement public if counsel advises or law requires it Adair County Judge Ann Melton has issued a statement regarding the settlement with fired Adair County Class D. Coordinator Tim Bradshaw. The letter shows a willingness, even a hope that the public be made aware of the terms of the settlement, but that the CJE is acting in accordance with legal counsel. The letter follows: To ColumbiaMagazine.com, to my fellow Adair Countians: The motion made by me in last night's (Tuesday, August 14, 2007-CM) Adair County Fiscal Court reads as follows: 'I make the motion that we accept the agreement as worked out by Mr. Elmer George, representing Mr. Tim Bradshaw, and Jennifer Hutchison-Corbin, representing the County of Adair, concerning the dismissal of former Class D Coordinator Tim Bradshaw. Included in this agreement is a gag agreement between all parties that this agreement will not be disclosed by any parties involved at this time or at any time in the future. This agreement was approved by our counsel, Jennifer Hutchison-Corbin.'It has been brought to my attention that there are some questions as to the legalities of the gag agreement that was placed by all parties as part of this agreement. I must act upon recommendation of counsel in all legal matters that come before the fiscal court. Because of District court being in session at this time, I have been unable to meet with the county attorney this morning. At the first possible time, I will meet with her and if she advises me differently, a statement will be made at that time. I have no problem indisclosing the terms of the agreement, made by both counsels. s/Ann Melton Adair County Judge Executive This story was posted on 2007-08-16 08:23:28
