The heroism of William Coy Turner

Veteran's relative relates story of of Adair soldier who died volunteering to take mission to keep friend, a father, out of danger; suggests more such stories be added to the topic on ColumbiaMagazine.com. They are invited.

To the editor, ColumbiaMagazine.com:

I don't know if you want extra details on any of veterans listed.

William Coy Turner is on the list, and died while on a voluntary mission for a friend of his, Coy told him to "Let me go on this mission, I don't have a wife or kids, and you do!"

I think acts such as that might be a good thing to start another section for veterans day, which would be about any heroic acts performed, which took their life or just any heroic acts at all!

I, as an Adair Countian, would be very interested in reading stories about our hero's in war, just serving is enough to become a hero, we live in a free country, which is paid for by the people who spend time in the military fighting for our freedom, which is what President Bush is trying to make sure we maintain.

I, for one, would love to see an accumulative report of this sort added, and it would make an excellent Veterans Day article!!!

A proud cousin of William Coy Turner!!

Yes, stories about Adair County war heroes are exactly the kind of material we want. The idea present could make an excellent article for Veteran's Day. And yes, we invite others to send stories of Adair County War Heroes. For now, this story will be posted, and a link will be added from Honoring Adair County Veterans who have served our country to this and other stories. They will all be included in the Veterans Day & Veterans List topic -ED.
