Letter: Jimmy Chapman story spurs ACHS 58 reunion activity

Joyce (Brenda Joyce Owen) Twyman, other class leaders at work planning already at work reunion for the Adair County High School Class of 1958, one of the institution's all time great ones

Hi, Eddie,

I just read the article Jim wrote about our community of Columbia. I will always be "from Adair County" also. As we get older it seems that we want to connect with our classmates and our hometown. It was such a wonderful place to grow up.

Our class of 1958 will have our Big 50 reunion coming up in 2008. As some of us start to plan this one we will stay in touch with you. It is our hope to be able to have it at Lindsey Wilson on Saturday August 30, 2008.

The McQueary's are willing to open their home to us again on the Friday night.

We have been unable to contact the person in charge to get our date, as he is on vacation. I will stay in touch with you as soon as the date is confirmed.

Again it was so nice to hear from Jim. I enjoy your paper and talking with Allison Shepherd about our old days as classmates. Allison and our daughter, Kelly Twyman Cruze are best friends.

Joyce Owen Twyman,
Hodgenville, KY
But always "from Adair County"
Thanks, Brenda Joyce, (Columbiamagazine.com does not hold with any desuthrenization: You all will always be Brenda Joyce, Wilma Jean, Helen Fay, Hilda Joyce, Michael Dean, Ann Sutton, and Billy Logan, et al, to us, no matter how the great google eternity book lists you) for the comment and the great news. Look forward to hearing more and sharing contact information, links with other class member readers. -Eddie

Incidentally, Joyce Twyman is linked to another recent story in ColumbiaMagazine.com. Her father, the late Roy Owen, operated one of the finest men's clothing stores ever in South Central Kentucky, "Owen's Men's Wear," in the building which Steve Hingle family now is remodeling for a tearoom. Her mother, Gladys Owen, was a favorite teacher at Adair County High School. -Eddie
