An Adair Countian, Andy Critz, has been named director of the Russell County High School Band, following in the footsteps of Vernie McGaha, another Adair County High School graduate who headed the Mighty Laker Band. He succeeds Wayne Ackerman.

Darren Gossage, Principal of Russell County High, said that Critz was selected from a large number of applicants. "There were over 20 really good people wanting the job," he said. "We happy to have Andy Critz. He comes from a big tradition of bands at Tates Creek. We think he'll do a great job at Russell County."

Critz is the son of the former ACHS Principal George Critz and Doris Critz, Director of Lab Services at Westlake Regional Hospital.

Critz is a 1998 graduate of Adair County High, and of the University of Kentucky. He comes to the Jamestown school from Tates Creek High School in Lexington, where he was assistant band director.

See "George Critz II" with photo on the Tates Creek Band website.
